Good Afternoon,
Whether our collective emails to the MPP’s office or the improvement in Pfizer shipments to Canada are working in our favor, we may never know. However, the great news is that Portal Village Residents are scheduled to receive their 1st Pfizer Vaccine for Covid-19 on Thursday March 4th, at Portal Village Retirement Home.
We are not sure of the order in which Residents will be vaccinated. We are planning for the Retirement Home Area firstly, followed by the Garden Terrace and then the Care Area but Public Health will take control of this clinic when they arrive. The clinic will be running in the Auditorium starting at approximately 10am and will close once everyone has been done. We expect this will be near to 3pm.
This clinic is NOT open to Staff or Essential Family Caregivers. We will keep you posted when we have more information for our essentials. Staff is permitted to make an appointment through the clinic in St. Catharines and several of us will be receiving our vaccine over the next week.
We will come to each resident individually when it is time to come to the clinic waiting area. From there you will be met with a Public Health Nurse to be screened and to review your Consent Form (which we already have on file).
Residents** Please wear a comfortable shirt which is loose around the arms, so that you can receive the vaccination in the upper arm. Also, you must wear a mask. Please wait for us to come to you.
After the vaccination, we will have an observation area ready where Residents will need to spend about 15 minutes being monitored by one of our nurses.
The 2nd vaccination date will be announced once it is received.
We are extremely thankful for this clinic to be taking place and looking forward to welcoming everyone back into our building in time!
Thank you again for your patience, kind consideration and ongoing positivity that is helping us get through. We are feeling so hopeful.
If any questions, please reach out to one of us.
Sincerely,
Tracey
